An added bonus of getting married in a different province or country is that not everyone will be able to attend. While it may sound a bit harsh, the farther away your wedding is—the fewer people you will feel obligated to invite. You may only invite a small handful of your nearest and dearest. Or you may choose to get married just the two of you and have a reception for all when you return. Just be mindful that destination weddings are more difficult for guests to schedule and budget for. This means you may have a few who RSVP “no” because it’s too far away.

Choose a destination that excites you and your partner! Most couples have a destination wedding in a location that doubles as their honeymoon. This means that you’ll enjoy more time on vacation and that you can plan pre-and post-wedding activities and excursions with your guests. For those who enjoy making things a family affair, you’ll be able to spend more quality time together. Just be sure to pre-schedule your one-on-one time together so that your honeymoon doesn’t fall by the wayside. Or honeymoon elsewhere to enjoy uninterrupted time together.
